Schindler Elevator
Over the years at ID3, there have been customers who stood out for a variety of reasons. Schindler Elevator holds a special place because they were our very first customerAt the time, Schindler was expanding production of its hydraulic elevators and needed to transition from etched zinc nameplates to molded components to keep up with increasing demand. That opportunity gave ID3 an important foothold and helped establish our capabilities in molded identification products.
From then on, every time I stayed at a Hampton Inn or a Hyatt Place, I found myself looking at the elevator. There, on the cab operating panel and the door jambs, was the Braille and identification we had produced at ID3. Most people never gave it a second thought, but I always did. Seeing our work quietly doing its job in hotels across the country gave me a warm sense of pride. It was a reminder that our products were part of everyday life, even if most people never noticed them.
Schindler may have been our first customer, but every time I spotted one of our molded Braille plates, it still felt like a small victory.
